Med School is done - What Next? Let's talk personal growth.
Well, here we are " writing a blog", three words I never imagined myself saying or doing for that matter, but as the old adage goes: never say never. I was pretty good at writing compositions though back in my high school days (not to blow my own trumpet).
Hi, my name is Ahmed Kamal Abdi, a recent medical graduate, aspiring doctor, part-time amateur chef and fitness enthusiast. I am Kenyan, with Somali background and no am not the guy from " Captain Philips"(although you could argue we look alike - just not the forehead). Most of you probably remember the scene where he goes:" I am the captain now", literal chills down my spine, Tom Hank's too, I'd reckon.
Barely three months ago, I told one of my close friends about stepping out of my comfort zone. Since then, life has taken an interesting turn. I've picked up chess, almost conquered my fear of swimming, and I'm finally working on getting my driver's license (a bit of a passenger princess, eh?) . These might seem like teenage milestones, but I had one main goal growing up: becoming a doctor - and everything else could wait.
This blog is a space for the real, unfiltered journey. From the path to becoming a fully licensed doctor, the simple activities that keep me sane, the meals that satisfy my gourmet side - and possibly yours and the life lessons learnt along the way. I'll share the wins, the setbacks and most importantly why I chose this life.
As the saying goes : " aspire to inspire before you expire."
So here's to inspiring growth - mine, and hopefully yours Insha'Allah ( God- willing).
Ladies and gentlemen....shall we?
